Project Name

Turtle Party by Anastasia and Nova (Fall-Winter 2016)

Project Description

Turtle Pond is a small man-made pond in Central Park in NYC filled with drinking water, and is home to a large population of abandoned red-eared slider turtles. Our mission is to see how the ecosystem is sustained in comparison to Harleem Meer, and to see how the turtle population is doing as a non-native species. We are also interested in seeing how the warmer falls/winters are affecting their behavior. Since they are an invasive species as well we hope to understand how their presence is affecting the other turtle species.
