Project Name

Earth Day 2015-Recognizing Endangered Species Project - Mountain Yellow Legged Frog, Rana Sierrae

Project Description

The Mountain Yellow-Legged frog, Rana Sierrae, is an endangered species that lives in parts of the Nevada Mountains. This species has become in endangered because of the introduction of trout into lakes that did not once have fish. The frogs need the water for its tadpoles and juvenile young, but the trout feed off of both. The species needs to be saved to help maintain the biodiversity of the Nevada Mountains. On top of that there could still be unknown uses of the species that we could benefit from. To help protect this species, travel to the areas where they still survive should be left untouched with little impact from humans. Awareness should be made of the issue, and if they can۪t clear some lakes that have been invaded by the trout; new lakes in their natural habitat should be dug out for them to repopulate in there own environment.
