Earth Day 2015 Recognizing Endangered Species Project - Hawaiian Monk Seal, Monachus schauinslandi

Project Description

The Hawaiian Monk Seal, Monachus schauinslandi, is an endangered species that lives in the Northwestern Hawaiian islands. They are endangered because humans have moved into their habitats, taking over much of their open coastline. They have also been the accidental victims of fisheries. These animals depend on water because they live in it. It is important to save these marine animals for reasons such as the benefits of natural diversity and biodiversity and agriculture. To help save these precious mammals, you can make a donation to Ke Kai Ola: The Hawaiian Monk Seal Hospital.
